1. What type of Anesthesia is used?
Depending on the extent of the surgery, it may vary from straight local, light sedation, to complete (sleep) general anesthesia for which the office is certified.
2. Are there any hidden costs in the surgery quotation?
No, our financial administrator will go over all costs with you at your consultation visit. All pre and post operative visits, surgeon fee, facility fees and anesthesia costs are included in your fee quote. You will be responsible for laboratory costs and prescription medications. We will make it very clear if you will incur any other out of pocket expenses.
3. How long do I have to recover from my surgery?
It may vary from 2-3 days to 2 weeks depending upon the extent of services provided and our concern for adequate care and follow-up. Normally you can return to complete normal activity between 4-6 weeks after your surgery.
4. Do I have to pay for revisionary surgery if I feel more work could be done?
Usually a surgeon’s fee is not charged for revision in the first 6-9 months after an operation, but we request payment for facility fees and any recommended anesthesia services. This situation varies from individual to the type of procedure.
5. What are some of the complications after certain procedures?
As with any elective surgery, there may be risks. Dr. Sanderson and her staff will discuss the inherent risks, benefits, options, alternatives, and potential complications that could result from your cosmetic surgery. You will be given all written material we have on your proposed surgery.
6. How can I determine if my plastic surgeon’s surgical facility meets acceptable safety standards?
The American Society of Plastic Surgeons and the American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery have issued a statement to their members on July 1, 2002 that all plastic surgery performed under general anesthesia , must be performed in an accredited surgical facility. Plastic surgery procedures performed in an accredited surgical facility have an excellent safety record. Our Office is certified by the American Association for Accreditation of Ambulatory Surgery Facilities (AAAASF).
